Basic building blocks of the physical layer of modern digital communication systems. Modulation, coding, equalization and diversity techniques. Signal space and optimum receivers, Nyquist signals including raised-cosine filtering, intersymbol interference and linear equalization, modulation techniques: BPSK, QPSK, MPSK, QAM, BFSK, MFSK, SQPSK and MSK. Results from information theory. Intorudtion to coding: continuous phase modulations-CPBFSK, GMSK and coded CPM.
